From your Chapter DirectorsWell, another month has come and gone again. On March 25th Kenny, Gary and I went on a trip to Peoria to attend their trailering seminar and have a good meal at the Golden Coral; and to also start the traveling trophy off to a southern start. Of coarse they weren’t ready for us to be there and a little surprised that we were there anyway. We had a great ride up and back. I cornered Bonnie to write something this month and it is below. The visuals she is referring to I have no idea what she is talking about, ha ha. We did have some good weather for a ride but now winter has returned; so much for global warming? The Gilman ride was a washout due to cold weather. The neighbor rides can now start for the Meet the Chapters cards. We will start Thursday April 12th with E. On the 14th will be the Moonshine ride and we will meet up with some from D2 at Effingham and ride on to Sparks open house afterward. The district and region has been rearranged somewhat. Dave & Gwen Carter were the District Directors and are now the Region E Directors. Steve & Sandy Schlager were the southern Assistant Directors and are now the District Directors. Dan & Martha Ribbing were the southern Assistant District Rider Educators and are now the southern Assistant District Directors. Tony & Jean Ondof, the northern Assistant District Rider Educators and also the District MED coordinators, have resigned because his job has transferred him to North Carolina starting the 16th of April. That now leaves Steve Hatten, the District Rider Educator, without any help in the northern and southern areas. There are rides coming up and hope the weather will start to cooperate. Those that have Niehaus tickets, please bring them to the April meeting so we can get them back to them. If you have our tickets, please sell them so that the 6 couples that keep this chapter together can enjoy Niehaus Days instead of having to work the booth all weekend so all the others can play without paying.
Don’t get lost, but then again, that is half the fun, Steve & Jeannie Note From BonnieI have to work on Saturday the 7th so Bill & I won’t be able to go to Gilman this year, but I understand it is to be cold. We are looking forward to May 3rd - 5th to ride to Branson. I won’t be doing too much riding after the May 10th as I will be having surgery. I will be down for about 6 weeks, so we will most likely miss the Memorial Day ride or at least I will. Ask Steve about his visuals he had at Dohacks on Monday April 2nd.
See ya later, Coming Events

Davis4-5-07 This season is starting out crazy, we've had late snow, heavy rains, and now cold again. Just all the more reason to be ready for all the conditions that nature can throw at us. How many times have you been out riding and got caught in a rain storm? We don't panic and run for cover, we stop and put on the rain gear and continue. So many riders I've seen must stop and take cover simply because they don't carry any gear other than maybe sunglasses. We also take along a tire plug kit, sun screen, first aid kit, an extra jacket or coat. Jumper cables, camera, and so on. This means more weight and more room you must allow for this gear. Hence the bags and trunks on the touring bikes. Frankly I can't imagine going back to a bare bike after the years of having all this gear at my disposal. But, to each his own, so if you want to be somewhat prepared for the inevitable or take a chance and travel light, be safe what ever you ride. Till next time, speed safely. Kenny Smart, chapter educator. The "Comeback Kids"After writing this story twice now and losing it twice, I now know that it will be completely confusing. Back in January, 2007 the card games began. It started at the Bleisch’s card party when Carol and Gary got beat in SkipBo. There were 9 games played that night and Carol and Gary only won two of them so it started out 2-7. Jim Bleisch marked this on his calendar and the talk began. No one ever did say “Let The Games Begin” like they do on television. Some of the card players and domino players got together after going out for supper for some more playing. Yes, SkipBo was again played. Gary and Carol were again challenged. They won two and lost three on that night. The score was now 4-10 At the Rahe card party, a lot of good food and conversation was had along with some more card playing. Carol and Gary won 4 and lost 2 that night. The score was now 8-12 The score as of 4/1/07 for Carol and Gary is 10-13 in the game of SkipBo. The "Comeback Kids" are ALIVE and WELL. In most of the United States, there is a policy of checking on any stalled vehicle on the highway when the temperatures drop down to single digits or below. About 3 AM, one very cold morning, Trooper Allan Nixon (Oklahoma Highway Patrol) responded to a call. There was a car off the shoulder of the road outside Shattuck, OK. He located the car, stuck in deep snow, and with the engine still running. The officer pulled in behind the car with his emergency lights on, the Trooper walked to the driver's door to find an older man passed out behind the wheel with a nearly empty vodka bottle on the seat beside him. The driver came awake when the Trooper tapped on the window. Seeing the rotating lights in his rearview mirror, and the State Trooper standing next to his car, the man panicked. He jerked the gearshift into 'drive' and hit the gas. The car's speedometer was showing 20-30-40 and then 50 mph, but it was still stuck in the snow, wheels spinning. Trooper Nixon, having a sense of humor, began running in place next to the speeding, but still stationary car. The driver was totally freaked, thinking the Trooper was actually keeping up with him. This goes on for about 30 seconds, and then the Trooper yelled at the man to 'Pull over! 'The man obeyed, turned his wheel and stopped the engine. Needless to say, the man from Dumas, Texas was arrested, and is probably still shaking his head over the State Trooper in Oklahoma who could run 50 miles per hour. Who says Troopers don't have a sense of humor? One day, a man came home and was greeted by his wife dressed in a very sexy nightie. "Tie me up," she purred, "and you can do anything you want." So he tied her up and went golfing. An old minister lay dying. He sent a message for an IRS agent and his lawyer to come to the hospital. When they arrived, they were ushered up to his room. As they entered the room, the minister held out his hands and motioned for them to sit on each side of the bed. The minister grasped their hands, sighed contentedly, smiled, and stared at the ceiling. For a time, no one said anything. Both the IRS agent and lawyer were touched and flattered that the old man would ask them to be with him during his final moments. They were also puzzled because the minister had never given any indication that he particularly liked either one of them. Finally, the lawyer asked, "Pastor, why did you ask the two of us to come here?" The old minister mustered all his strength, and then said weakly, "Jesus died between two thieves, and that's how I want to go Please Support our Sponsors
